Who can sell in the MarketPlace?

Anyone who loves to knit and is already a granny or of granny age can sell their knitwear in our MarketPlace. Sellers need to be able to manage their own stall online, or have a family member or friend to do this for them. (We are looking into providing a managed service for those without computer skills so please do contact us if this is something you'd be interested in.)

What can I sell?

You can sell any hand made knitted or crocheted item that is either your own design, or from a design you have consent to use commercially.

How It Works

  • The seller has a page ('stall') on our website where they will be allowed to advertise any pieces of knitwear they want to sell.
  • Their stall will be accessed using a unique username and password to our website where sellers will be able to update their profile, add, delete and amend the items they sell and see details or current and previous orders.
  • They will need to include photo(s) and descriptions of each piece, with details of yarn fibre, sizing, any customisations allowed, an idea of how long it will take to knit, etc.
  • When a seller's item is ordered, we take the money and email the seller with details of the order.
  • The seller knits the order (if they don't already have it in stock) and sends it directly to the customer.
  • We pay the seller the total of all their orders each month, less our commission.

How We Promote You

We work hard to market your stall through social media, SEO, blogging, and email marketing. We can are passionate about telling the stories behind our knitters and will shout about you and your products in every way we can.

We have a pretty good track history with PR, with lots of coverage on the telly, in national newspapers and on some seriously influential websites. The MarketPlace gives us even more to promote and we will endeavour to get the very best coverage that money just can't buy.

We have a growing list of fans ready and waiting to hear about what we are up to via email. We'll be sending monthly newsletters and other promotional emails when necessary to this captive audience.

We are creative people who have loads of wild and wacky ideas for offline campaigns we want to run at regular intervals throughout the year. We welcome you to jump on board and get involved in our campaigns so just watch this spaceto see what we'll be getting up to next.

We know how important being on the first page of Google is so we're investing in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and Google's Pay-per-click advertising.

Payment and commission

Grannies, Inc. charges a commission on the price of all items sold in the MarketPlace, not including the delivery charge (please register for a stall for more information on our commission). We'll pay your fees directly into your account at the end of each month. We do all of your admin, including all the invoicing involved - so you don't have to.

Refunds

In the event a customer wants to return an item purchased they may do so according to our returns policy. We will return the item to you in the condition it was sent and you must refund the payment for this item, including the postage cost within 30 days. (Note that a customised product cannot be returned as understandably you might not be able to re-sell these).

Feedback

Please bear in mind we are in the very early stages of the MarketPlace and we are working very hard to make the website the best it can be and the process of selling as easy as possible. To help us improve it would be wonderful if you could give us as much feedback as possible about what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong. Don't let those bug-bears bite!
